William Mitchell, 1911

William Mitchell became president of Homestead Savings and Loan Association in 1979, replacing executive vice-president Raymond Zeman. Mitchell was born andraised in Ohio, and for many years worked with farmers in farm management and land acquisition. Just prior to coming to Homestead, he held the positions of senior vice-president, asset manager, and chief loan officer for the Litchfield State Savings Bank. It was during Mitchell’s tenure at Homestead that theassociation constructed its beautiful Italianate styleheadquarters. Mitchell resigned in January 1981 to become president and chief executive officer and board member of the Three Rivers Savings and Loan.
