Phineas Graves (1826-1904), original school board member.

Phineas Graves was a long-time educator and Civil War veteran, educated as a teacher in New York. He had come to Albion in the fall of1855. Graves served as a professor in IraMayhew‘s Commercial College for a brief period before entering the Union Army in the Civil War. Graves was a public spirited person who worked for the betterment of the community. He served on the board of education from 1867 to 1873, and was postmaster of Albion from 1867 to 1875. P7
