Mary, Mother of Jesus Christ. From her childhood, her marriage, to visitation by Gabriel and the annunciation, to the birth of Jesus, standing at the foot of the Cross where Jesus was crucified, her purification and death – are at the central of Christian belief. Often pictured with a light blue garment. In art the nativity is Mary holding baby Jesus, and the pieta is Mary holding the crucified Jesus Christ.
