Milford Powerhouse receives Save Our History Grant – Milford, Michigan

The History Channel today awarded the Milford Historical Society in Milford, MI, a $10,000 Save Our History grant to partner with Huron Valley Schools for “The Stories of the Pettibone Creek Hydroelectric Station.” Students in grades 6-12 will discover the historic significance of an abandoned 1939 hydroelectric plant in Milford’s downtown. As a final project, they will produce video materials for visitors of all ages that will be used by the historical society and the schools to increase awareness of the building and its history, and the importance of preservation. The Milford Historical Society is one of 27 history organizations nationwide that received Save Our History community preservation grants. These grants fund innovative preservation projects designed to bring communities together, actively engage children in the preservation of their local history and communicate the importance of saving local history for future generations.
