yang symbols and the I Ching
Anyone consulting the I Ching formulates a question, then tosses a set of coins or yarrow sticks to generate a set of “lines” that may be broken (representing “no” or yin) or whole (representing “yes” or yang). Each permutation of three lines (trigram) or six lines (hexagram) is associated witha particular group fo meaning, set out in the book. (Tressider, 2000)
