Any beam that is a component of a truss. 2. A wood beam reinforced with components that form a low-height triangular truss; the reinforcing can be of various forms, including two wood sisters, or a tie rod passing over a short strut, or a queen rafter. Also known as trussed beam. See also strut beam. (Bucher, 1996)
