Analysis of the condition and physical characteristics of a structure by methods that do not alter its condition; methods include use of archaeology, boroscope, document research, mortar analysis, photograph microscopy, nail chronology, nondestructive testing, paint straigraphy, salt meter, and spraying water on masonry to check for leaks.
