Mendicant
In Latin, from the verb meaning “to beg.” Type of religious order whose members take a vow of poverty and lvie by begging. Unlike the monastic orders, which seclude themselves from the outside world, Mendicants (such as the Franciscans and Dominicans) are not bound by a promise of confinement. (Barnet, 2005)
