Isaac

The Old Testament recounts his Isaac’s father Abraham was called by God to sacrifice his son Isaac. At the last moment Isaac was saved. This event prefigured the sacrifice and death of Jesus Christ. Isaac in Hebrew means “he who laughs” or more commonly “laughter.” (Kremer, 2025) The sacrifice of Isaac is represented by a brazier of burning charcoal, a bundle of wood and a sacrificial knife.
