In French, a word for “suburb.” In New Orleans this refers to neighborhoods beyond the French Quarter. Two of the oldest neighborhoods outside of the French Quarter are Faubourg Marginy and Faubourg Tremé. The term may also be used to describe a district bustling with charming restaurants, shops, and centers of original art and culture. (Kremer, 2024)
