Fair Housing Act
Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968 which, among other requirements, prohibits lenders from discriminating in their housing-related lending activities against any person because of race, color, religion, national origin, or sex. The act covers transactions regarding the sale or rental of housing, including for the purposes of purchasing, constructing, improving, repairing or maintaining a dwelling. Persons or groups may file complaints with the Department of Housing and Urban Development. (Reese, 2005)
