A stone dressing method involving the use of a crandall (a hammer-like tool with a number of pointed steel rods held in a slot at the end of a handle). A crandalled finish is a quick method of dressing principally sandstone; the finished surface usually has a fine, pebbly appearance. (Phillips, 1994)
