Based on a construction technique known as Airform. After the foundation was poured, a balloon was stretched over a steel cable, inflated, coated with reinforcing, then sprayed with concrete. A compressor kept the balloon full until the concrete had set, and then the balloon was deflated and removed. (Carley, 1994)
