A rolled-steel shape with an H-shaped cross section with flanges with parallel faces; typically square in its outer dimensions; primarily used for structural columns and piles. Also known as H beam, H column, H-pile. See also Bethlehem column, I-beam, WF section. (Bucher, 1996)
