Instituted, August 1, 1924, with a charter membership of 23. First president, Deputy Sheriff George U. McCarty. Since that time the membership fo the Albion Spirit has increased to 35, a substantial increase for a growing organization. Second president was the late Fire Chief Fred Griswold. Membership is composed of members of fire departments, police officers and United States postal employees. The organization has been referred to as “the peace-time army of the United States.”
Officers (1931-1932): C.J. Whitney, president; William Schumacher, vice-president; Earl Bearman, secretary-treasurer.
