Miller, Rena Root, 1888

Rena Root was born in the Concord area on July 25, 1888. She graduated from Concord High School and attended Ypsilanti Normal School, now Eastern MichiganUniversity, and the University of Wisconsin. She taught mathematics and history before her marriage to Karl H. Miller in 1914.

She was a member of the Albion Public Library board from its origin in 1918 until 1956, and a member of the Albion Public Schools board of education from 1931 to 1946. She was the treasurer for several years for the Albion Community Concerts Association, president of the Review Club, and vice president of the City Federation of Women’s Clubs. During World War II she handled the non-highway gasoline rationing program for the Office of Price Administration. She died on July 2, 1963.
