the use of heavy timber for building construction, typified by vertical, horizontal and diagonal wood braces. Trim pieces that counterfeit this construction are called false half-timbering. Most commonly in St. Louis, such false half-timbering appears on the exterior of houses in the Tudor Revival style. (St. Louis, 1995)
