winged lion

A lion with wings is most commonly called a griffin, which is a mythological creature with the body of a lion and the head and wings of an eagle. However, a simple winged lion, without the eagle’s head, is also referred to as a winged lion and can be a heraldic symbol, like the Winged Lion of Venice, which represents Saint Mark.
