The whale, arosed by the heat, plunged downward, engulfing all. A symbol of Satan, whose vAles are not always detected. The fish swimming unsuspectingly into the jaws of the whale, thinking it a cavern of safety, was also a symbol of the man who goes blindly into the traps of the devil. (Webber, 1938)
