The symbols of the twelve tribes of Israel are based upon Genesis 49:1-27. (Webber, 1927)

  1. Reuben, water
  2. Simeon, sword
  3. Levi, a sword or censer
  4. Judah, a lion’s whip or a sceptre
  5. Zebulun, a ship in harbor
  6. Issachar, an ass with two burdens
  7. Dan, an adder
  8. Gad, a banner or implements of warfare
  9. Asher, a horn of plenty
  10. Naphtali, a running hind
  11. Joseph, a fruitful bow
  12. Benjamin, a wolf
