In North America a transom is generally the light above the doorway, also called a glossary/fanlight/" class="glossaryLink" data-cmtooltip="218ed132eb1e39a9c3d8a2487d93f579" target="_blank" >fanlight. In Europe, a transom is the horizontalstructural-member/" class="glossaryLink" data-cmtooltip="c2a2b9a90fdd7e46c35201d9b2b82c12" target="_blank" >structural member that separates door/" class="glossaryLink" data-cmtooltip="beb905a9a978a1fdd7f1cbfb3d55b040" target="_blank" >the door from the window above it.
