Saint Matthew

Isaac Kremer/ October 2, 2022/ / 0 comments

One of the Four Evangelists, whose symbol is a man (or angel). St. Matthew was given the symbol because his Gospel emphasizes Jesushumanity, and opens with a description of Jesus’ human ancestry. Apostle Matthew is depicted as a man or angel, with a book (when portrayed as an evangelist); money bags, spear or sword (when portrayed as a disciple). Cum natus esset dominus Jesus in bethleem (now Jesus was born in Bethlehem), is a lesson from the Gospel according to St. Matthew.
