An open space where streets or roads intersect; a place where streets go in four directions. (Harris, 1977) 2. A term coined by Boethius to contrast with the trivium of grammer, rhetoric, and dialectics. The quadrivium was an umbrella term for the four mathematical/arithmetical disciplines in the canon of the liberal arts. (Fried, 2015)
