Palladianism
Architecture influenced by the Renaissance Italian architect Andrea Palladio (1508-80), largely through his widely published drawings of country villas. Characterized by symmetrical massing under a hipped roof and projecting, pedimented central porticos, all with Classical Roman elements and proportions. (Foster, 2004)
