New Classicism

Movement involving the study of Classical architecture, to recover a coherent language of architecture, something jettisoned by the Modern Movement. Classical architecture has played a hugely important historical role, renewed with 18th c. Classicism and Neo-Classicism. As a reaction to Beaux-Arts, Neo-Baroque, Neo-Renaissance, and Art Nouveau, there was a further Classical Revival before the 1914-18 war, leading to the Neo- and stripped-Classicism that were so widespread in the 1920s and 1930s… (Curl & Wilson, 2016)
