Painting Of A Frightened Girl: detail of a mural frieze at Pompeii (c 60-50 B.C.). This famous composition, consisting of twenty-eight or more figures, is the finest surviving specimen of the grand figure-painting of the so-called Second Style. (Boardman, 1986)
