A pipe made of solid lead; typically 2 inches or less in diameter and with soldered joints; types include cast pipe, soldered pipe; used for water supply, short-branch drains, vents, and suction pipes from cisterns and wells; largely replaced by other types of materials by mid-20th century; may be connected by a blown joint or wiped joint.
