jalousie windows

Also known as louvres, jalousie windows are lapped, horizontal glass or wood panels held in twin vertical tracks, which allow the plates to open outward in unison via a mechanical crank handle or central wooden rod. They are common to semi-tropical and tropical climates and are often paired with external shutters. The plates can be angled to allow them to be open during rainstorms without rain ingress.
