In the Old Testament, Jacob and his twelve sons are indicated by a sun and a full moon, representing Jacob and his wife, and twelve stars. Fourteen sheaves of wheat are also used, with the tops of thirteen sheaves inclined towards the fourteenth one, which stands erect. Both symbols are based on the dreams of Joseph. (Webber, 1927)
