A style of architecture inspired by the materials and techniques associated with engineering and other technologies. The term was adopted from the interior design book High Tech: The Industrial Style Sourcebook for the Home (1978) by Joan Kron and Suzanne Slesin, and replaced the “Industrial Style” label that was used to describe such architecture in the 1970s.
