A measure of the total heat contained in a substance, equal to the internal energy of the substance plus the product of its volume and pressure. The enthalpy of air is equal to the sensible heat of the air and the water vapor present in the air plus the latent heat of the water vapor, expressed in Btu per pound (kilojoules per kilogram) of dry air. (Ching, 1995)
