Gothic dome

A structure supposed to be possible or conceivable; at once a true cupola and Gothic in structure and design. A true cupola could not exist in Gothic architecture. When, however, a vaulted compartment is much crowned-up, the rounded forms approach those of a dome in this sense. (Jones, 1992)
