A buff, gray, or variegated calcite-cemented calcareous Mississippian limestone formed of shells and shell fragments, practically noncrystalline in character; quarried almost entirely in Lawrence, Monroe, and Owen counties of Indiana. Also known as Bedford stone, Indiana limestone. (Bucher, 1996)
