Antiquities Act of 1906
U.S. federal legislation authorizing the president to designate historic and natural resources of national significance located on federally owned or controlled lands as national monuments, and providing for protection of all historic and prehistoric ruins and objects of antiquity located on federal lands; the first U.S. preservation legislation.
