An architectural style of house building noted for its distinctive roofline. Sometimes called a roof hut, the style features steep walls for roofs that begin at, or near, the ground and slope in as they reach the peak, forming the shape of the letter A. The triangular shape of the A-frame has been used by many cultures throughout history but the modern take became popular in the decades after World War II when the simple structures were often used as vacation homes.
