The geographical area from which customers travel to take advantage of the products, goods, services, and entertainment of an area. May be subdivided into primary market area and secondary market area. The primary market area is often a municipality, while the secondary market area reaches further out and includes outlying geographies. In a downtown setting, often the only way to grow the local economy is by extending the secondary market area further outwards. (Kremer, 2022)
