An ancient Egyptian deity, a Hellenistic form of the falcon-headed god Horus, whose name means “Horus in the Horizon”. He was worshipped in the New Kingdom, with his cult focused on the Great Sphinx of Giza, which was seen as an image of the deified Sphinx. He was a manifestation of the god Horus and linked to the rising sun and the god Ra. (Kremer, 2025)
