This flower symbolizes adoration – from it shabit of turning toward the sun. In Greek myth, the lovesick girl Clytie was transformed into this flower, forever following the object of her hopeless passion, the sun god Helios. The flower became a Christian emblem of religious devotion. (Tressider, 2000)
