Seraphim
Heavenly beings within the angelic order of Counsellors. Based upon the description found in Isaiah 6:2, “And above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.” The great painters, glass workers, illuminators and embroiderers usually picture the Seraphim in this manner. The usual colour of the Seraphim is crimson. Often they are pictured standing upon winged wheels, and having both bodies and wings full of eyes. They bear a scroll, upon which are written the words of the Prophet Isaiah, “Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord of Hosts.” Their office is to attend the Lord upon aHis heavenly throne, singing their praises to Him. Their leader is Uriel. (Webber, 1927)
