Marcus Vitruvius Pollio was an obscure first-century B.C. Roman architect whose Ten Books on Architecture was rediscovered in the fifteenth century in the Abbey of St. Gallen. This unique surviving Roman handbook on the art of building became an invaluable aid for Renaissance buildings seeking to revive ancient architecture. Often referrred to simply as “Vitruvius,” this is the oldest and most influential architectural book ever written. (Rybczynski, 2013) 2. A character in Lego: The Movie played by Morgan Freeman.
