While French, British, and Italian revivals were spreading across the country, California and the Southwest held on to their Spanish colonial traditions. Despite the unifying force of the new transcontinental railroad, the Spanish colonial tradition continued to be reflected in several revival styles including: Mission Style, Spanish Eclectic, Monterey, and Pueblo Revival… (Reiss, 2004)
