baptism of Christ

Isaac Kremer/ July 3, 2024/ / 0 comments

The Baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist as described in the Biblical Gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke. Most historians agree that the angel to the left of Jesus was almost certainly painted by Leonardo’s hand. It is believed that the piece was commissioned by the Church of Saint Salvi, in Florence, Italy and passed through multiple owners before being housed in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, Italy in 1959.
