J.M. Ragsdale, 1893-1941

J.M. Ragsdale, 47, former vice president of the Vaughn and Ragsdale Co., died at his home at Columbus, Mont., this morning after a four-year illness.

Mr. Ragsdale was born August 10, 1893, at Cando, ND. A graduate of Denver University, he served in the U.S. army at the Mexican border in 1916 under General Pershing and was a first lieutenant in a machine gun division overseas during the World war.

L.J. Vaughn and Mr. Ragsdale became partners in the mercantile business in 1918. When their organization was incorporated in 1927, Mr. Ragsdale became vice president and continued in that capacity until his health failed in 1937 and he had to resign. He was a member of the Masonic lodge, and a reserve captain in the army.

The company has had its general offices here for ten years.
