Katherine W. Phipps, 1872

Katherine W. Phipps was born in Albion in 1872. She lived here her entire life, marrying Eugene C. Carrington, an area grocer. She raised four children: two daughters and two sons.

At the time of her death in 1944, she was the oldest communicant of St. James’ Episcopal Church, having been confirmed in the original church, which burned to the ground in 1884. She also helped found the church’s Altar Society.
