Ray C. Neal, 1908

Ray handled the day-to-day affairs of Homestead Loan and Building Associationduring the 1930’s. Born December 30, 1908, in Kent County, Ray had come to Albionas a child when his father was employed by the AlbionLumber Company. Ray came to Homestead in 1929 as a bookkeeper and accountant, having formerly been employed at Little’s Hardware. Within two years he became the assistant secretary-treasurer of the Association. He became secretary in 1937 after the resignation of Ray C. Neal, a position he held until he was drafted into the Army in 1943. Ray met with prospective home buyers and made thenecessary arrangements before the applications were brought before the board of directors. Richmond Ray returned toAlbion following World War II, and was director of the Albion Housing Commission during the 1950’s. He later became an office manager for the Eberle M. Smith Associates of Detroit. He died September 26, 1984.
