Ralph Locke began his amateur boxing career in 1931, and promoted his first amateur boxing show in Albion in 1937. Locke has coached numerous local, state, and national Golden Glove tournaments. A legend in the boxing community, he is shown in this 1937 photograph as a welterweight. Locke was inducted into the Michigan Amateur Sports Hall of Fame in 1976, and was named the 1985 Michigan Golden Gloves Outstanding Coach of the Year. (Photo courtesy of David Locke).
