Dean, Lucy Elizabeth, 1879
    Died February 8, 1967

Lucy Elizabeth was born in Marengo Township on July 20, 1879. She married Charles R. Dean in 1896. She later attended Northern Illinois College of Optometry and Osteology, served a two-year apprenticeship and became a registered optometrist in 1919.

Lucy worked with Harvey W. Sweet, an Albion optometrist. After Dr. Sweet’s death in 1934, she continued to operate the practice alone. The office was above the Sugar Bowl at 104 South Superior in a building which she owned. From 1943 to 1954, she worked for the Balden Optical Company in Detroit, returning to Albion when she retired in 1945. She died February 8, 1967.
