Gardiner W. Davis, 1829

Gardiner W. Davis was born October 29, 1829 in North Greece, Monroe County, New York. His wife, Mary Jane Martin, was also born in North Greece, in 1826; she died in January, 1890. After Gardiner’s Death, the family moved to Marceline, Linn County, Missouri. The names of their children were: Edith Parmelia, Addie (b. 1857, d. 1950), Elwin Clinton (b. June 1860, d. September 1939), Charles Herbert (b. 1862, d. 1916), and Nellie May (b. 1867, d. 1942).

The tombstone of Gardiner W. DAvis, cashier of the National Exchange Bank of Albion, who committed suicide in 1876. At the bottom in small print is etched, “Erected by the National Exchange Bank to the Memory of a Fathful Officer.” Riverside Cemetery.
