Rev. Father J.V. Coyle, was born on a farm in Washtenaw County and received his early education in the district school and Ann Arbor High School. After four years in Assumption College, Sandwich, Ontario, and three years in St. Mary’s Seminary, Baltimore,Maryland. He was ordained to priesthood, July 2, 1911, in Sts. Peter and Paul Cathedral, Detroit, by the Rt. Rev. Edward D. Kelly. His first assignment was to St. Rose’s Parish, Erie, Michigan, as assistant. On October 2, 1911, he was appointed pastor of St. Mary’s Parish, Albion, where hepresided for several years.
