Cook, Mary E. Nelson, 1836

Mary E. Nelson was born in Duchess County, New York, the daughter of Smith W. and Maria E. Nelson. The family moved to Michigan the same year. She married B.B. Cook in 1855 and raised six children, two of whom died at an early age. Although she never affiliated with any church, she lived by the golden rule. She was described as a kind and generous neighbor. Mary died in 1889 after two years of illness.
